Anatole France, vlastním jménem Jacques-François-Anatole Thibault, (16. dubna 1844 Paříž – 12. října 1924 La Béchellerie u Tours) byl francouzský básník a prozaik, literární kritik a esejista, humanistický filozof, pokračovatel racionalistických tradic renesance a osvícenství, nositel Nobelovy ceny za literaturu za rok 1921.

Bývá často označován za posledního velkého spisovatele 19. století a prvního velkého spisovatele 20. století.

Léontine Lippmann (14 June 1844 - 12 January 1910), better known by her married name of Madame Arman or Madame Arman de Caillavet, was the muse of Anatole France and the hostess of a highly fashionable literary salon during the French Third Republic. Madame Verdurin in Proust's Remembrance of Things Past was modelled on Lippmann.
